Who are the instructors of the courses?

The authors / instructors of the BSS courses are
John Umbreit, Jolenea Ferro, and Carl Liaupsin.
All three are faculty members at the University
of Arizona and have many years of research,
clinical, and practical experience. For more,

What is function-based behavior intervention
planning?

Function-based behavior intervention planning (FBIP)
is a method for developing behavior change
strategies that focuses on reducing of problem
behavior and increasing more appropriate
behavior.

What is a behavior support specialist?

A behavior support specialist refers to an
individual with the knowledge and skills
necessary to assist individuals, groups, and
systems through the application of positive
behavior supports.

Is
the course content research-based?
-
The approaches taught in the BSS
course series are based on more than 50 years of
research in the fields of applied behavior
analysis, education, and psychology.

What are the minimum educational prerequisites for
participants?
-
The content taught is the same as
that in graduate level, credit bearing courses
at the UA, so the minimum of a bachelors degree
is required.

Do
the courses have to be completed in order?
-
Yes, the courses should be
completed in order because they were designed to
build a set of knowledge and skills. You can

Is
there a required text or materials?
-
While much of the material for the
course is presented on-line, there is also one
required text for the course. The cost of the
text is not included in the cost of the course.
The text can be ordered from all major
booksellers. (Available at Amazon)

Can I receive professional development credit (CEUs)?
-
Continuing Education Units (CEUs)
are available through the University of
Arizona’s Office of Continuing Education and
Academic Outreach. You can receive 13 CEUs per
course for completing each course in the BSS
series. Contact BSS
personnel for details.

Are the courses approved for credit toward BCBA
certification?
-
How much do the courses cost?
-
The cost for participating in one BSS course is
currently $1000.00. This does not include the
cost of the text, which can be purchased at any
major on-line book seller. (Available at Amazon)
